Aside from Smart Lipo, liposuction, in general, is one of the most popular and widely performed cosmetic enhancement procedures in the country, and with good reason. It delivers results and, in the hands of a skilled doctor, you can achieve a more refined appearance.
The process is straightforward, removing unwanted fat cells from the body and sculpting the area like an artist. It is a perfect solution for those suffering from stubborn fat deposits. In recent years, the procedure has advanced to become more effective and less invasive. One of the modern day treatments is known as Smart Lipo.
Liposuction has humble beginnings as the brainchild of Italian and French surgeons who developed the technique in the late 1900’s. Since then, the technology has had two significant advancements which improve patient results:
1) Dr. Jeffrey Klein’s introduction of tumescent liposuction, which reduced the size of the cannula used
2) The introduction of Smart Liposuction, which uses a laser to refine and enhance results
How is Smart Lipo Different?
Smart Lipo is similar to traditional liposuction in that it still uses a cannula and skilled manipulation to suction fat layers beneath the skin. However, by also using laser heat, the fat can be liquefied before suction. Liquefying the fat allows for easier suction and less postoperative bruising.
Outside of making fat removal easier, another benefit of using a laser to heat fat deposits is that it promotes skin tightening. Traditional liposuction has no skin tightening benefits. Without the added tightening effect, dimpling and sagging of the skin are more likely.
With traditional liposuction, recovery time is longer. Compression garments would be worn for up to six weeks. With the use of a laser, recovery time is drastically reduced.
You can receive Smart Lipo on almost any area of your body. It is very rare to find a circumstance where traditional liposuction would be a preferable choice.
