What is Ulthera?
Ultrasound has become an important tool in our laser practice. With the Ulthera ultrasound treatment, we are using high intensity focused ultrasound energy to selectively target the underlying muscle and tighten it without having to do surgery. This energy also targets the deep layer of skin to stimulate and tighten the collagen. It is thought to be, hands down, the best alternative to a surgical face lift. Our practice was among the first doctors nationally to be privileged to use this technology for our patients. Our experience has helped us establish guidelines and treatment protocols that achieve superior results.*
There is minimal to no recovery time after Ulthera. Some patients notice mild redness and swelling lasting from a few minutes to a few of days. There will be some continued discomfort to the jawline upon touch for a few weeks which feels more like muscle soreness after the procedure. The procedure is safe on patients of all skin types and color. Some results should be noticed quickly. Continued tightening should occur over a 3-6 month time period. The results are not as temporary like Botox or fillers, but as you age, there will likely be a need to repeat the procedure at some point—likely at 3-5 year intervals. Repeat procedures can be done after 3 months to achieve greater tightening if needed.*
