Vaser Liposuction
in Cincinnati, OH

For patients looking for a big or small improvement in body shape and contouring, Vaser liposuction is excellent. Unlike traditional liposuction, Vaser liposuction is performed in the office under local anesthesia. The targeted area is first numbed using a tumescent numbing fluid. The fat is then liquefied using a high intensity focused ultrasound device called Vaser. The Vaser device selectively disrupts fat cells, sparing the vessels and nerves, thereby causing minimal post treatment bruising or swelling, though this can vary from patient to patient and depends on how much fat is being removed. Vaser Liposuction can be used in delicate areas elegantly and safely.

What Is Vaser Liposuction?

Most of the fat begins to leak out of the tiny skin punctures immediately. The rest is evacuated by gentle suctioning. No stitches are required after the treatment is completed. You will wear a girdle like garment for a few days to weeks depending on the area being treated. There will be a significant amount of fluid drainage for the first 24-36 hours. We will see you for follow up visits one week after the procedure and again at one month and three months.*

Key benefits of VASER Lipo:

  • Single procedure results with speedy recovery times

  • Improved body contouring over traditional liposuction

  • Easily treats large amounts of stored fat

  • Smooths skin even in delicate areas like the arms and neck

  • Refines and accentuates appearance of muscles

How Does Vaser Liposuction Work?

After an anesthetic is locally injected into the skin, the area to be treated is infused with a special saline/lidocaine/epinephrine solution which helps to expand the fatty layer, shrink the surrounding blood vessels and numb the area. A small probe is then inserted which transmits high intensity focused ultrasonic energy (HIFU) to break up the fat cells while not affecting the surrounding tissues or nerves. These liquified fat cells are then suctioned out carefully.

The Vaser Liposuction Procedure Explained

Here is what you can expect when undergoing Vaser liposuction at our practice:

1. Consultation

We start with a comprehensive consultation where we listen to your goals, review your medical history, and examine the areas you’d like to treat.

2. Anesthesia

Depending on the extent of the procedure, we may use local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia.

3. Fat removal

Tiny incisions are made in discreet areas, and a cannula is used to suction out fat while contouring the body.

4. Recovery

Patients typically go home the same day. Compression garments are worn to reduce swelling and help the body adjust to its new shape.

5. Results

Results become more visible as swelling decreases over the following weeks, with final results typically apparent within a few months.

6. Follow Up

After several weeks, a follow up visit is scheduled to ensure your liposuction goals were successfully and fully acomplished.

How Long Do The Results from Vaser Liposuction Last?

After you receive your desired results from Vaser Liposuction, the results will remain permanent as long as your lifestyle and health do not change. Your body generally does not produce more fat cells to replace the ones liquified and treated by Vaser Liposuction. If there is a change in lifestyle and diet in the future, you could begin seeing fat reaccumulating in the treatment area as a result of any remaining fat cells enlarging or rarely new fat cells forming. You could also see growth of fat in untreated parts of your body. Maintaining your current weight is important to achieving the best long term results with Vaser Liposuction.

What Can I Expect After the Vaser Liposuction Procedure?

After Vaser Liposuction, most patients fit into smaller clothing more comfortably, even at just one week out from the procedure. We recommend returning to work after two to three days of rest. For a procedure performed on Friday, for example, the majority of patients will be fine to return to work by Monday. For the majority of procedures, exercise can be resumed one to three weeks post treatment. We encourage you to remain active and mobile throughout the recovery process.

Fluid drainage for the first 24 to 36 hours after treatment is quite common. You will also wear a girdle-like undergarment for a few days to a week after the procedure, depending on where you were treated and how much fat was removed.

Will Vaser Liposuction Cause my Skin to Sag after the Procedure?

Because the HIFU energy from the Vaser probe emits heat to the skin, one can expect more skin tightening as a benefit from Vaser Liposuction as compared to traditional liposuction. The skin tightening should occur quite immediately but continues to improve over the next several months. If there is significant loose skin prior to the procedure, we might recommend adding the ThermiRF procedure concurrently or shortly after the Vaser Liposuction procedure for added skin tightening benefits. One could also have Ultherapy, Thermage or Exilis Ultra Plus procedures afterwards to achieve further skin tightening.

Will Vaser Liposuction Work on Cellulite?

Vaser Liposuction and all forms of liposuction are not designed for reducing cellulite. However, we can use a special attachment on the Vaser device called Vaser Smooth, which has a forked end on the proble to help cut through the fibrous tissues that cause the indentions in the skin while also melting away the globules of fat and heating the skin to achieve new collagen growth. Alternately, you could have procedures such as Velashape, Exilis Ultra Plus or Thermage post Vaser Liposuction to handle any left over cellulite, dimpling or loose skin.

Fluid drainage for the first 24 to 36 hours after treatment is quite common. You will also wear a girdle-like undergarment for a few days to a week after the procedure, depending on where you were treated and how much fat was removed.

What are the possible Side Effects from Vaser Liposuction?

Immediately after the Vaser Liposuction procedure, you will have leakage from the small puncture sites for 24-72 hours. By 72 hours, the small punctures close up on their own. Although not as common, you might see bruising post procedure. You might also notice swelling from the inflammation caused by the procedure. This will gradually subside over day to a month. Rare complications could include formation of a seroma or hematoma, a burn to the skin, infection and scarring. In the rare event that not all the fat could be removed during the procedure, one might need an additional follow up or touch up treatment.
