Sculpt a New You with EMSCULPT
What Is EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT® is a revolutionary new procedure which for the first time in aesthetic medicine addresses the underlying muscle tone to truly sculpt the body. The procedure uses 2.5 Tesla magnets to provide the equivalence of 20,000 crunches in each 30 minute session! This leads to clinically and biopsy proven 16% hypertrophy of the muscles being treated as well as a 20-25% permanent loss of fat cells from the treatment area.
EMSCULPT is safe and effective for:
- Building muscle tone and definition
- Reducing fat
- Sculpting more definition and tone
While EMSCULPT is predominately used for toning abdominal areas, it is also effective as the first non-surgical butt lift procedure. If you have other areas of concern, they can be addressed during your consultation with our team in Cincinnati.
What does EMSCULPT do?
EMSCULPT builds muscle and kills fat cells. It is the first and only procedure in medicine which is clinically proven to hypertrophy muscle and achieve permanent fat destruction concurrently. In a 30 minute session, EMSCULPT delivers the equivalence of 20,000 squats or sit ups to your abdomen, or gluteal area (buttocks). Emsculpt with also help tone and slim your arms, thighs and calf muscles.
How Does EMSCULPT Work?
EMSCULPT works by utilizing a powerful 2.5 Tesla magnet to induce sequential contractions, which when grouped together create a supramaximal contraction. This type of contraction is humanly unachievable by even the most dedicated body builders. In the process, surrounding fat cells undergo apoptosis and die off permanently.
When will I see results with EMSCULPT?
Results from EMSCULPT are felt immediately after and more so for the next few days as you will feel like you have done 20,000 sit ups—which you have, just without having to go the gym and sweat it out! Muscle hypertrophy is visible within the first two weeks of treatment. Fat loss will follow during the subsequent weeks and continues to occur for up to 6 months post treatment according to clinical studies.
What parts of the body can EMSCULPT work on?
EMSCULPT is great for tightening the abdomen where it can get you closer to a perfect 6-pack. It is also excellent for the Buttocks to achieve a non-surgical butt-lift. This is a great alternative for patients looking for a Brazilian Butt lift. We can also treat the arms, thighs and calves as well as the pelvic floor muscles.
Who should get EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT is an excellent procedure for anyone who wishes to build up their core muscle strength and lose fat. It is great for body builders and athletes looking to perfect their physique and perhaps lose that last bit of bulge that just won’t go away. EMSCULPT is also excellent for women who have had children and have developed a separation of their abdominal muscle, known as Diastasis Recti. EMSCULPT is clinically proven to close the Diastasis Recti gap without requiring surgery and without extensive physical therapy. EMSCULPT is also great for anyone who is having trouble exercising due to other injuries, disabilities, health reasons or old age. EMSCULPT is perfect for anyone looking to tone up the abdomen, or buttocks and lose fat in those areas. It restores core strength, helps one be more active, increases the basic metabolic rate and helps patients maintain better health.
Who should not get EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT is contraindicated in anyone who is pregnant, has a pacemaker or a defibrillator. It is also contraindicated to use EMSCULPT over an area where a metal implant is present, including a metal mesh. If the metal implant is not directly underneath or close to the area being treated, the procedure can still be performed. Emsculpt should also not be performed around the chest wall area for the pectoralis muscle or upper back, where the magnets could potentially adversely affect the heart muscle.
What does EMSCULPT feel like during and after the procedure?
EMSCULPT feels like a series of contractions and is truly painless. It feels like muscle tugging and pulling only. The 30 minute procedure is very pleasant. You will feel cycles of contractions and resting phases throughout the cycle. After EMSCULPT, you can resume all normal activities. The day after, while most patients do not feel any soreness, some patients might report feeling sore to the treatment area as if they have worked out—generally a good feeling! There have been a few reports of muscle fatigue after the procedure which dissipates after a few days. It would be advisable to refrain from strenuous exercise to the treated muscle groups for one week after treatment.
What should I do to prepare for EMSCULPT treatments?
No special preparation is required for the Emscupt procedure. However, it is advisable to be well hydrated. We recommend using a hydration app on your cell phone to keep track of hydration at least starting 1-2 weeks prior to treatment if you generally have difficulty keeping yourself hydrated. As this procedure is a lifestyle procedure, we recommend staying active with work-outs and exercise after treatment to help maintain results as well as making healthy food choices.
Who would be a poor candidate for EMSCULPT?
EMSCULPT may have limited ability to achieve the best results if there is an excessive amount of fat layer in the treatment area as the magnets may not reach the underlying muscle as effectively. EMSCULPT is also not designed to tighten the skin if loose skin is present. Though a nice improvement to tone is generally observed as seen in the before and after photos of patients receiving EMSCULPT, additional treatments such as Vanquish ME, Velashape, Exilis Ultra Plus, Thermage or Ultherapy may be supplemented to tighten the skin further afterwards. EMSCULPT also does not target Cellulite specifically, though again, some improvements may be noticed. In case of Cellulite, we might recommend adding Exilis Ultra Plus, Velashape, Thermage or Zwave treatments for better targeting.
How many treatments will I need?
We recommend one of two protocols with Emsculpt. Clinical studies were performed with two 30 minute treatments per week for two weeks. Alternately, some clinicians are receiving great results with weekly single 30 minute sessions for 5 weeks.
Can I keep getting EMSCULPT after I complete my 4-5 sessions?
We recommend taking a small break after a 4-5 treatment cycle. However, maintenance treatments monthly or at 6-12 month intervals are highly recommended and effective. We have a yearly gym membership program with Emsculpt to help you maintain your results!
Are the results permanent with Emsculpt?
The results achieved for fat loss are permanent and can be maintained with a healthy lifestyle. Muscle hypertrophy can also be maintained with personal trainers and exercising. However, we believe that patients will likely wish to return for maintenance at monthly or at 6-12 month intervals.
Are there any side effects from Emsculpt?
The only side effect from Emsculpt might be slight muscle soreness afterwards. Otherwise, there is no recovery time after Emsculpt. The side benefit is improved overall health. The muscle hypertrophy achieved will improve your overall metabolism as well.
I have heard that EMSCULPT helps with Diastasis Recti? What is that and how does it help?
Diastasis Recti occurs in both men and women. Although more commonly seen in women, it also affects men and can present as a pooch that is difficult to lose. After women bear children, it is quite common to be diagnosed with diastasis recti. The stretching of the abdominal muscles during pregnancy can lead to a permanent separation of the abdominus rectus muscle. Current options for repair include physical therapy and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery. Certain exercises actually worsen Diastasis Recti which is why it is important to work with a physical therapy specialist. Most women are too exhausted and busy to make time for this type of commitment with physical therapy. Abdominoplasty is an invasive plastic surgery procedure whereby the surgeon sutures the muscle back together, involving general anesthesia and a prolonged recovery as well as scarring. EMSCULPT is a breakthrough technology to help reduce Diastasis Recti with just four 30 minute treatments over two weeks. Clinical studies have shown remarkable results!
